PART 2.jpg

2 Chronicles 13:12a "And, behold, God himself is with us for our Captain."

Joshua 5:13-14a "And it came to pass when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand.  And JOshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" So He said, "No, but as commander of the Army of the Lord (jesus) I have now come."

2 Corinthians 2:14 "But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere."

WHO IS OUR CAPTAIN?

Jesus/Yeshua is our Captain in Battle.  He leads us.  He defeated the Enemy on the cross by redeeming us from our debt of SIN.  How comforting and empowering it is to know that our Leader/Captain in Battle has already won the WAR against sin and death!!  Our daily victories are not secured by association with Jesus per se .  We are engaged in Battle every day and will be until we pass on from this life on earth to life eternal in Heaven, or when Jesus returns and we are changed in a "twinkling of an eye."  AMEN!  It is OUR RESPONSIBILITY (not God's) to either secure the VICTORY or to suffer defeat.  To secure victory FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

1.  Understand that the Battle you are engaged in is spiritual (Ephesians 6:12);

2.  Recognize/discern when you are under attack;

3.  Know and use the weapons of Spiritual Warfare, which includes the Word of God and OBEY it

     (2 Corinthians 10:4-6, Ephesians 6:11);

4.  Arm yourself every day with the full Armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-17);

5.  Know the Enemy and his Battle tactics (Genesis 3:1-5; Matthew 4:1-11, 7:15, 24:24; Mark 4:1-         9; Luke 13:16, 22:3-6; John 8:44, 10:10; Ephesians 2:2, 6:11; Acts 10:38, 13:10; Romans          10:17; 2 Corinthians 11:3; 1 Peter 5:8-9; 2 Corinthians 2:10-11, 4:4, 11:3, 13-15, 12:?7;

     1 Thessalonians 2:17-18, 3:5; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10; 1 Timothy 4:1; 1 John 3:12;

     Revelation 2:10, 12:10);

6.  Have Faith in God (Mark 11:22; Hebrews 11:6; James 1:6; Ephesians 6:16; 2 Corinthians 5:7);

7.  Take authority over the Enemy and all his minions by and through our Captain in Battle, Jesus Christ

    (Matthew 10:1, 28:18; Mark 6:7; Luke 9:1; Luke 10:19) and

8.  Actively fight your Spiritual Battles - it is impossible to be a passive warrior and be victorious!

Psalm 144:1 "Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle -- my loving kindness and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me."

Jesus, the living Word of God, has given us all we need to win every Battle we face.  We must know that is in God's Word so we can STAND against the Enemy so as to secure the VICTORY.  Jesus is our High Tower (high above the Enemy--high enough to see in advance the Enemy approaching); our Deliverer and our Shield!

Joshua 23:10 "One of your men puts to flight a thousand, for the Lord your God is he who fights for you, just as He promised you."

We are promised the ability to subdue the Enemy and be VICTORIOUS!  Because our Battle is spiritual and not physical, we need a Spiritual Leader.  Jesus promises to fight for and with us when the odds are stacked in the Enemy's favor.  However (and this is something we all need to get ahold of -- the TRUTH of it), Jesus will NOT do for us what HE COMMANDS US TO DO.  For this reason, Joshua 23:10 is often misunderstood and misinterpreted.  It is an important Scripture to quote out loud and stand on in the thick of Battle when we have "done all" to stand and are growing weary of the fight.  In the physical realm, we get stressed and tired.  We we cannot take another step and have done all to stand, it is Jesus, our Captain, who carries us.

2 Kings 6:17 "And Elisha prayed, and said, 'Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes that he may see.' And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw.  And behold, the mountain was FULL (emphasis added) of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."

Elisha's servant had just reported to Elisha that their enemy's army had surrounded the city with horses and chariots, asking Elisha what they should do.  Elisha asked God to open his servant's eyes.  You see, Elisha trusted God enough to KNOW that God was protecting them, even though it could not be seen with human eyes.  He knew the Battle was not only physical, but also spiritual.  God's protection proceeds from and is seen ONLY in the Spiritual realm.  When Elisha's servant's eyes were opened, he saw that the mountain was FULL of horses and chariots of FIRE all around Elisha!  An entire Army of Angels!!!  Can you imagine?!?  God respond to prayer by opening our eyes spiritually and physically.  It is through the opening of our eyes and faith that our fears are silenced.  The clearer the sovereignty and power of God, and the more knowledge we have of God's Word, and faith increases -- the more strength and courage we have to face our Battles emerging VICTORIOUS!

OUR CAPTAIN'S PURPOSE:

1 John 3:8 " . . . for this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

If you've ever been asked this question, "Why did Jesus come to earth?"  He's not the "reason for the Season," as the world prefers to think of Christ.  Indeed He came to SAVE us from eternal separation from God . . . to offer himself as the perfect sacrifice once for ALL sin . . . to set ALL captives of Satan/sin FREE, etc.   The Enemy's ONLY purpose is to SEAL, KILL AND DESTROY.  When Lucifer (Satan) fell from Heaven, he became God's Enemy and, by association, OUR ENEMY.  In sum, Jesus' ONE purpose is to DESTROY THE WORK (all of it) OF THE ENEMY.  Hallelu-YAH!!!
