NOTHING TO FEAR?

It’s true that as a Christian, you have nothing to fear. In John 10:29, Jesus said, “My Father, who has given them [you] to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them [you] out of the Father’s hand.” You have eternal life because Jesus paid the price for all of your sins (the price for sin is spiritual death). Jesus has given us all of His authority and power to defeat the Enemy. We have the written Word of God and the Spirit of God living in us. We have everything we need to lead victorious, happy lives. Just one thing we need to remember: WE MUST USE ALL HE HAS GIVEN US TO WIN THE VICTORY!!!

Here are a few of my favorite “do not fear” scriptures:

Psalm 118:6-7 “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper.”

John 14:27 “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.”

1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

Isaiah 43:1 “But now, this is what the Lord says…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.”

So . . . is there really nothing to fear?

What about godly fear? Godly fear is reverence toward God for Who He Is and for all He has done.

Revelation 15:4 KJV "Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest."

Godly fear stems from a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Godly fear is a fear driven by our desire to want to do everything possible to stay in relationship with the most awesome, most powerful, most loving person in the universe.

Hebrews 12:28 KJV "Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear"

God gives us a kingdom through grace and where we serve God with godly fear. Godly fear is the proof that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, which compels us to stay away from evil.

Proverbs 16:6 KJV "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil."

If you have allowed yourself to slip in this area, reflect upon all God has done, and continues to do for you.

In summary, you should fear nothing EXCEPT God . . . Our Lord God Almighty!

Psalm 91

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” 3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. 5 You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, 6 Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. 9 Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. 14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

Be assured, God is with you no matter what you face. He is there, strengthening, helping; He holds you in His hands. God is greater. He gives us the power to live courageously, boldly, fearlessly in this life when many things that surround us would tell us to be afraid. His Truth whispers with strength and confidence to our spirits. All the things on your mind causing you to lose sleep . . . give them to God. Replace every fearful thought with the Truth of His Living Word and sleep in peace tonight. Your good, good Father knows what concerns you, He’s got you covered (in the blood of Jesus)!  AMEN!
